Gerald & Mary from Shropshire
Moving onto Hollins Park in Shropshire was something that Gerald and Mary knew was the right decision.
It was also breaking new territory for them both. Gerald and Mary have been married for nearly 50 years and in that time have moved home no less than 11 times. Each home was like a project to them, something that they really enjoyed and immersed themselves into.
Over the years they have loved buying properties that they could renovate, physically doing the work themselves, not employing people to do it for them. All very challenging and time consuming, however they loved every moment.
The last house was originally an old semi-detached property that they put 3 years of hard work into renovating. When they came to sell it, it sold on the day it went up for sale !! Sounds like someone was waiting for them to sell their much loved home.…….
Much as they loved renovating property, which was effectively their shared hobby over the years, they started to feel that they wanted more time to relax, more time to enjoy the travelling they liked to do, which included cruising.
The idea of a smaller property and one that didn’t need any work, was becoming very appealing, so they started looking into the options.
At first Gerald didn’t warm to the idea of a park home, although they had looked into the idea around 7 years previously. The turning point was when Mary’s sister moved onto Hollins Park, and the more they visited, the more their opinion changed, to the point of moving onto the park themselves.
Gerald and Mary visited Tingdene’s Visitor Centre to start the process of choosing their home. They very much liked the Tingdene Afleck, however the Addington kitchen was the selling point for them, and the home they finally chose.
They visited Tingdene’s Centre twice, Gerald said“ Lisa was lovely, nothing was too much trouble” “we liked the fact that we could make choices for our design and furniture”
“The factory was very good, very informative. There was also plenty of furniture choice and options for our home”
“Simon was also very good and came to the park to discuss the layout and window aspects to suit the plot we had chosen.”
Having moved onto the park, they have spent some time making their garden look superb, there wasn’t after all anything that needed doing inside the home. They commented that they love living on the park, it is so peaceful, lovely neighbours and marvellous community spirit that they feel is not there in the bricks and mortar environment.
Mary said“ It’s like being on permanent holiday” “When our grandson’s visit they love to walk in the woods, our 8 year old grandson gets so excited and our other grandson who is 15, loves to take photos”
Having worked hard over the years and about to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a cruise to the Caribbean, it is certainly time for them to relax and enjoy life with their family and friends. Gerald and Mary’s family consists of 2 daughters, 1 son and 8 grandchildren.
