Norman & Betty from Wiltshire
15 years ago Betty and Norman moved into their first park home and so loved the lifestyle that last year they decided to have a change and moved onto Blunsdon Abbey Park and into a Tingdene Barnwell.
They had really enjoyed the 14 years in their previous park home on Wildwood Park, but simply fancied a change, so started looking around at other parks within the area until they came across Blunsdon Abbey near Swindon.
Blunsdon Abbey Park is situated just north of Swindon on the edge of The Cotswolds, within the stunning historic grounds of Blunsdon Abbey House. The location provides some stunning views, in a tranquil environment, however with all local amenities close by in the nearby town.
Norman and Betty will have been married for 60 years in June of this year, and have 2 children and many friends locally. They have both had an active life, with Betty having run a successfully florist for 30 years, until she decided “enough was enough” and retired when she was 60 years old. Norman retired himself when he was 54 due to health problems with his hip. It was at this point that they moved into a bungalow in Perton, Herefordshire. During the early retirement years, Norman and Betty completed a fantastic project of building a dolls house, including all the furniture and dressings. The detail that went into the project is truly superb and they still proudly display the house in the entrance to their current park home.
After a few years they started to find the bungalow rather isolated and the garden wasn’t very manageable. Also local amenities weren’t suiting their requirements. They did however enjoy 15 years in their bungalow before moving into their first park home. The one aspect they enjoyed with living in a park home is the community spirit. Something that most people find a pleasure when moving to a park home development.
Norman and Betty were thrilled to sell their first park home quite quickly and for a good price, which allowed them to visit Tingdene’s Visitor Centre to discuss the specification for their new Barnwell.
They particularly liked the fact that they could change the layout to suit their needs and make their own choice of furniture, furnishings and wall colours. Betty said “ the Centre was good and staff very helpful. We spent all day doing our spec “ Betty also went on to say how pleased she is with her new Barnwell.
It hasn’t taken them long to get the garden completed with decking, landscaping, planted pots, and making friends on the park within only a few short months.
