Tingdene Donates to Local Cause, Spectrum Club

Representatives, Laura Price, Sarah R-U Blake and Gemma Gunn, from the Spectrum Club committee came to visit the Tingdene Visitor and Design Centre to collect a donation of £2,000 for their cause.

The Spectrum Club began with a group of parents organising Saturday clubs and activities for families with autistic children across Northamptonshire.  The Club has grown exponentially ever since, amassing over 1400 parents on the private Spectrum Club Facebook page.  The platform has allowed parents to share information, talk openly and offer support to each other.

Following the success of the initial Saturday clubs, Spectrum has gone onto organise various events.  They private-hire venues such as cinemas, soft play, swimming pools and activity centres to enable children and parents to feel at ease in a non-judgemental environment.  Laura from Spectrum said that this ‘enables them to enjoy things other families take for granted.’

The Tingdene team were delighted to meet some of the Spectrum Club committee and their children. It was great to learn about the work that they carry out and how much help and support they offer to the community.

Simon Iliffe, Human Resources Manager at Tingdene, presented the cheque to the Spectrum Club. He said ‘We chose the Spectrum Club to provide support to in the form of a donation this year as we feel it is an important and incredibly worthwhile local cause; benefiting autistic children, the club was nominated by Marcus Phillpotts one of our employees who is involved with Spectrum.’

After receiving the cheque Sarah from Spectrum went onto say that ‘the money will be used to host similar events so children with Autism can access activities in a safe environment and parents/carers can relax without judgement.’
